While the brush is waterproof, it doesn't mean it's immune to the effects of extended humidity or water exposure which can cause mold. Rinse Thoroughly

After each use, rinse the brush head and device under warm water to remove toothpaste and debris. This step helps keep the bristles and device free from residue that can encourage mold.

Allow for Complete Drying

Store your autobrush in a well-ventilated area where it can fully dry between uses. For example, avoid storing the brush in a closed bathroom cabinet—especially if your bathroom lacks an extractor fan or other ventilation.

Replace Brush Heads Regularly

Switching out your brush head every 2 months (or sooner if the bristles look worn) helps keep bacteria and mold at bay.

Wipe the Brush After Each Use

After brushing or after getting the brush unit wet, use some paper, towel or cloth to wipe off any residual water along the top of the brush (where the LED lights are).

Our current Sonic Pro Kids model does not allow you to lower or raise the volume. While this isn’t a common request we receive at Autobrush, we certainly are considering it for future versions of the Sonic Pro Kids so it can accommodate the preference of each household.

Music-Free Mode

However, for parents who like starting their morning quietly (among others), it's possible to use a music-free mode on the Sonic Pro Kids.

This is done by starting your autobrush by pressing the power button once, and then using the Timer button (top right of the brush) until you reach the red timer mode. By pressing the power button again, a 60-second brush cycle will begin with no music.

Other Noise Sensitivity Options

If you haven't made your purchase yet and know that a music option is not for you, you can consider buying a Manual brush (non-electric) or one of our Adult Sonic Pro brush bodies. Neither of these has music and both are compatible with all brush head sizes, including the ones for kids.

The autobrush Sonic and Sonic Pro are designed with daily use in mind, meaning they can handle everyday splashes, bathroom humidity, and rinsing under the faucet without issue. However, it’s not fully waterproof to the point where it can be submerged in water for extended periods or used in very wet conditions like a bath or pool.

IP67 Rated

The Sonic and Sonic Pro are IP67 waterproof, meaning they can withstand a reasonable amount of contact with water that you can expect in a bathroom environment.

While the brush can stand being submerged now and then for short periods, we don’t recommend placing the device fully underwater (e.g., dropping it in a bathtub or sink) for long periods.

  • Avoid Prolonged Soaking
    After using your Sonic or Sonic Pro, a quick rinse is fine to remove toothpaste marks or little fingerprints—just don’t leave it soaking in water.
  • Thoroughly Dry Your Brush
    Wipe the handle and shake off the brush head after getting them wet (and after using the brush.) Moisture that builds up over time can degrade adhesives and result in mold on the brush head or the brush body, so it's important to dry off the brush after getting it wet.
